What is Digitek?

Digitek is the brand name for Digoxin tablets and is prescribed for patients with heart conditions such as congestive heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms.  These tablets are also known as Digitalis, Cardoxin, Lanoxin, and Lanoxicaps and are manufactured by Actavis Totowa LLC.

Digitek recall

On April 25, 2008, Actavis Totowa LLC initiated a Class I nationwide recall of Digitek oral tablets after it was discovered that the tablets may contain twice the approved level of an active ingredient.  Taking more than the safe level of Digitek can lead to digitalis toxicity.  Digitalis toxicity can occur from a single exposure or chronic overmedication, or it may occur in patients with normal blood levels of digitalis if other risks are present.

Digitek Litigation

Individual lawsuits and lawsuits seeking class action status have been consolidated for pretrial proceedings in federal court in the Southern District of West Virginia.  Numerous individual cases have also been filed in state court in West Virginia.
